Boat rental in Klaipeda, Lithuania
Klaipeda is Lithuania's only port city - and it looks best from the water. The old town, the castle ruins, the ferry terminal, the working harbor cranes: all of it opens up differently from a boat deck. Then the city falls behind, and the Curonian Lagoon stretches out ahead.
With Travel Boat, you can rent a motorboat in Klaipeda for a few hours or a full day - with a skipper included. No licence or experience required. The widest choice of boats in the Travel Boat fleet: five vessels, from compact motorboats to a large motor yacht.
Klaipeda is the northern gateway to the Curonian Spit, a 98-km UNESCO-listed sand peninsula. From the Klaipeda marina, the open lagoon is 20-30 minutes away.
What Klaipeda looks like from the water
The Klaipeda port has operated for over 700 years. From a boat, you see the city the way sailors saw it: the tower of the old castle, the red-brick warehouses of the old town, the narrow strait that separates the city from the Curonian Spit. On the other side of the strait - Smiltyne, the northern tip of the spit, with its beach and pine forest.
Once out of the harbor mouth, the lagoon opens. The Curonian Spit runs south along the western horizon - a long, low line of dunes and trees. The water here is calmer than the Baltic Sea, sheltered and shallow.
Klaipeda harbor and Kopgalis peninsula
The first stretch from the Klaipeda marina takes in the harbor panorama, Kopgalis lighthouse, and the Smiltyne shoreline. A two-hour route stays in and around the harbor area - city from the water, no open lagoon required.
The Curonian Spit from Klaipeda
Heading south from Klaipeda, the spit runs along the western shore. First stop - Juodkrante, about 40-50 minutes away. Continuing south - Pervalka, then Nida at the southern tip. A full day from Klaipeda to Nida is one of the longest single routes in the Travel Boat fleet.
Boat trips from Klaipeda - routes and duration
Klaipeda has the most route options of any Travel Boat departure point. Shorter trips stay in the harbor area. Longer trips head south along the Curonian Spit.
